Handcrafted Waxed Canvas Bags
Some of you may be asking, why waxed canvas? Whats the big deal? Waxed canvas, or ‘tin cloth’, is a canvas that has been impregnated with wax. It was developed in the early 1900’s as a waterproof alternative to denim. The particular fabric I use is Martexin which is woven here in the US with cotton that has been coated in non-hazardous, environmentally friendly wax.
I love waxed canvas because it is waterproof, durable, and practically indestructible. I make each bag by hand from beginning to end; from original design, to hand cutting the fabric and leather, to sewing and riveting, to finishing touches. One at a time, from me to you.
One thing that’s important to me is buying materials that have been manufactured and/or sold by American based companies. Martexin canvas is manufactured in the US by the same company since 1838; the leather is purchased from a company that has been in business since 1919; the webbing straps are made by a family owned business in Oregon, who also supplies my hardware. So when I say ‘Made in the USA’, I mean it.
