Biography
Hand Dyed Silk Scarves
After spending 15 years sculpting my organic forms in bronze and raku fired clays that have ended up in collections all over the world, my life took an unexpected turn. A chance encounter one day left me fascinated with painting color on pure silk. I had envisioned colorful abstract images since childhood and now had met a medium that could bring them into being. I was smitten and began the task of exploring painting on silks in a more contemporary way. To do this, I began by setting up lots of experiments to learn what would happen if I did this, or that, while painting and critiquing the results. This methodology has enabled me to develop a totally fresh approach to hand-painting silks into what has become my signature look found around the globe.
